Roger Smith – Brother

Dec 05, 2017

As my Mom would say….better late than never. I am the youngest and I survived my childhood with Gaylen as a big brother. Through all of our childhood fights, Gaylen always aimed for my throat. I am lucky that I can still talk! I complained to Gaylen a few years ago about his throat punches. He said it was not on purpose, I just had a giraffe neck!! Yeah right….. I also had a right nasal tumor surgically removed about 10 years ago. I told my doctor; and later Gaylen, that it was caused by his mean left hook. Gayen honestly felt bad…….which made me feel somewhat happy. I also survived his briber, when he caught me at 6 y/o with a cigarette butt (found on the curb) in my mouth pretending to be smoking. He said he would tell Mom and Dad if I didn’t pay him a month’s allowance. Hey, at a dime a week, 40 cents was a lot of money in 1955! I am sharing my childhood memories because I regret that I don’t have nearly enough memories that we shared as an adult. Each time I visited Mom, he would always take time to visit and spend time together. He made me feel special and I cherish all of the childhood and adulthood memories he gave me. There weren’t nearly enough. I miss you big guy!!!!!
