At the time when we realized dad probably wasn’t going to make it out of the hospital, someone on the Palliative Care Team asked me to share a favorite memory of dad and I kind of just froze. There are a few memories of dad that I don’t care for that much, but otherwise they are all favorites. A common theme is simply him coming into a room, seeing me, smiling, and reaching out for a hug! I also realized it’s like asking which kernel is your favorite in a bowl of popcorn. I love popcorn and just want to eat the whole bowl, enjoying each and every piece. That’s how I felt about my time with dad, and he was the biggest and best bowl of popcorn ever. You will be missed forever dad, but we will keep enjoying the tasty morsels you left for us. We love you…
